Before I got married (and actually before birthdays too), I was frequently asked, who is going to make your cake? 

I've actually never made a cake for myself before, but for my wedding, I made an exception.  

I opted for an antique radio because my husband and I both LOVE music.  I was what you'd call a DIY bride, so in addition to the cake, I made the invites, the giveaways, and table numbers, and everything had a retro musical theme.  

At the wedding one pint-sized guest pointed to the cake and asked his mom, "what is that!?" His mom then proceeded to explain that it was a radio and that people used to have these in their homes.   The kid looked utterly confused which made me laugh (and also feel kinda old!).
